Quickstart
Songs (I-IV) explore, in greater detail, subjects that were introduced in
Quickstart Guitar. The goals for these
classes are:
·
Learn to play the guitar—Learn “how things work” musically
on the guitar;
·
To play complete songs—songs the students like/can
appreciate;
·
Play other people—better your skills by playing with others;
·
Learn about music.
This class focuses on learning songs and styles that contain open string chords, along with chord changes, strumming styles, basic riffs, broken chording, the songs form, and all things important in mastering any song. As students become more familiar with basic chords, strumming, and different Quickstart techniques, they will learn to play parts with other students (rhythm guitar, textured guitar lead guitar, bass guitar, etc.)…like guitarists do in your favorite bands. For each group of songs, each student will get a CD that contains the study group of songs and practice drumbeats. Classes are one-hour long and run on a month-to-month basis.
Basic
Power Chording as it applies to basic classic rock, basic alternative music,
and basic pop-punk. This class also covers basic major key music theory as it
applies to power chording. We’ll
introduce songwriting with power chords in a variety of different keys. As students become more familiar with basic
power chording skills, they will learn to play parts with other students (clean
rhythm guitar [w/ open chords], distorted guitar [w/ power chords], and bass
guitar, etc.). For each group of songs, each student will get a CD that contains
the study group of songs and practice drumbeats. Classes are one-hour long and
run on a month-to-month basis.
Cost: $67/month
This class is ALL about Barre Chording—learning how to play them, and learning songs that contain them. We’ll cover new rhythm guitar styles: Blues, Funk and Reggae. We’ll introduce basic lead guitar soloing with the Minor and Major Pentatonic Scales, and apply these scales to the songs we learn. As students become more familiar with basic power chording, they will again learn to play parts with other students (rhythm guitar, textured guitar, lead guitar, bass guitar, etc.). For each group of songs, each student will get a CD that contains the study group of songs and practice drumbeats. Classes are one-hour long and run on a month-to-month basis.

Quickstart Songs IV
Power Chording as it applies to RIFF ROCK (Heavy Metal, etc). This class also covers Minor key music theory as it applies to power chording. You also learn the tools to creating metalish riffs: pedaling, minor tonesets, substitutions, and chromaticism (styles of Metallica + newer bands). As students become more familiar with basic power chording, they will again learn to play parts with other students (rhythm guitar, textured guitar, lead guitar, bass guitar, etc.)…much like guitarists do in rock bands. For each group of songs, each student will get a CD that contains the study group of songs and practice drumbeats. Classes are one-hour long and run on a month-to-month basis.
