While many of the classes I'm offering at Campbell's Music are designed for the beginner (or nearly beginner), I hope to offer classes for "the player" as well! Who's "a player"? Someone who has the basic skills down.... can "talk" on their instrument... but would like to talk more fluently..... or in a different musical language. Music is about growth... exploring new songs, new sounds, new approaches... a bigger musical vocabulary from which to create off of. GROW... that's what "players" always strive to do!!!
I Need Your Help!
What would would you like to learn? I'm flexible... how can I serve you? Here are some of the class titles/descriptions that I came up with. Let me know if anything sparks your interest.
Off-The-Record
First you'll learn the songs. . . but within each "song lesson" you'll learn the deeper lessons to really make the most out of the song or particular style of music...ideas that'll help make you sound like the players on your favorite recordings. This is not a class for beginners. . . some experience is needed. Classes scheduled monthly.
Power Chording I
In this class, I teach the best ideas from the past and present of Power Chording. . . techniques that have you coming up with your own riffs in no time. Plenty of "Off-The-Record" song samples will be provided. Anyone interested in ROCK rhythm guitar, should be interested in what this class has to offer. Classes currently scheduled on a monthly basis.
FunkShop
(For guitar and bass) This class is a rhythm section workout...whereby you'll learn everything funky--the history, the chords, the strumming, single note line riffs. . . and easy principles of improvisation as it applies to FUNK music. Classes made up of 3 guitars/1 bass. Bassists learn to improvise in a variety of funk styles. COMING SOON--FunkShop (Drums/percussion addition).
Rhythm Sectioning
Learn to play with others. The classic rhythm sectin consists of guitar, bass, drums and keyboard. How these instruments work with one another is what I call Rhythm Sectioning. Different style approach the rhythm section in different ways. In this class, we'll check out many different approaches to Rhythm Sectioning. The class Rhythm Sectioning can serve as a vehicle that will help to a apply what you're learning in private lessons (or group lessons) in the company of other musicians (Guitar,Bass, & Drums).
